The Green Man On Ironwood

The Green Man On Ironwood

Typically when I feature a piece of my art in a blog post there is a story behind it. When I sat down to write this post I realized I could not remember how I got the idea to paint The Green Man on a slice of ironwood.

All I can recall is that the idea came to me quickly, it formed in my mind quickly and I painted it quickly.

Maybe it was the very quick memory I had of a time 2 1/2 years ago. I was at The Mall in Boulder, Colorado during an art street fair. I remember coming across a booth with art created by a Native American woman. She had the most beautiful notebook which she created and I fell in love with it. She took leather and died it turquoise and then soft sculpted it into The Green Man and made it into the cover for the notebook. Although her price was extremely reasonably, I could not afford the book at that time but I think of it often.

That is the only thing I can think of as to where the idea for The Green Man On Ironwood came to me from. Which is odd because most of the time my ideas are inspired from something very recent and obvious.

I hope you enjoy my rendition of The Green Man and if you wish to purchase him, please contact me at gypsywitchcreations.com.
